I love being outdoors! Hiking and mountain biking are my favorites and I’ve probably hiked every mountain in San Diego County. I’ve completed multiple sections of the Pacific Crest Trail through-out California, climbed Mt. Whitney, not once, but twice, hiked the Grand Canyon South Rim to the North Rim in one day, and mountain biked in Moab, Utah, Mammoth Mountain, June Lake, Big Bear Lake, and numerous local trails. I really enjoy the challenges that hiking and biking and being in the wilderness.
I love challenges! In 2019 I was thinking about a fun way to get myself and friends out after our “New Years’ Exercise Resolutions” start to wear off. I came up with the “Heart to Shamrock 100 Mile Challenge”. Basically, you hike, bike, walk or run 100 miles from Valentines Day to St. Patrick’s Day. I invited my friends and family to join the challenge and ended up over 30 people the first year. We had such a great time doing group challenges and celebrations afterwards. It really inspired all of us to get out and get moving, so it became an annual event. We have awards at the end in multiple categories to highlight some of our achievements. The following year we doubled our attendance. I hope it continues to grow and gets people excited about hiking and exploring our local mountains.
My other passion, and the most important to me, is my family. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy spending time with them. My son, daughter-in-law, and 2 grandsons are the joys of my life. My husband and I enjoy having them and our friends over for barbecues, swimming, golf putting contests, and a rousing game of corn hole are always the best way to spend my time.
